FAQs
Where do the bike rides start?
Bring your bike and start at one of the six bike parade starting locations. Park there and go on an organized ride leaving at 10:30 with one of our Kids on Bikes Ambassadors as you make your way to Mid-Shooks Run Park.
Ride Routes:
Goose Gossage All-Stars:
3.8 miles. Start at Goose Gossage Park. This route does have a few little hills where younger kids might walk their bike. There will be a few blocks of street riding, but the whole group will stay together to connect to the trails safely.
Rockin on Rock Island:
2.9 miles. Ride starts at Horace Mann Elementary and follows Rock Island Trail. There will be a few blocks of street riding, but the whole group will stay together to connect to the trails safely.
Shake it on Shooks Run:
2.0 miles. Ride starts at Bonforte Park. This is the shortest route and is also nearly flat. It is entirely on trails, with a few street crossings. We highly recommend that the smallest riders join this ride, especially those with Strider bikes or training wheels.
Pedal Station Super Powers:
5.8 miles. Ride starts at the Pedal Station. This is our standard Popcycle Ride route, with the added connection to Shooks Run Park. There will be a few blocks of street riding, but the whole group will stay together to connect to the trails safely. It is recommended for older kids (8 and up).
Wild West Side Ride:
3.8 miles. Ride starts at Bristol Park, beside Bristol Elementary School. This route is mainly on trails with a small section of street riding at the beginning of the ride, but the whole group will stay together to connect to the trails safely. It is recommended for older kids (8 and up).
Hillside Hippies:
1.5 miles. Start at Helen Hunt School. This route does have a few little hills where younger kids might walk their bike. There will be a few blocks of street riding, but the whole group will stay together to connect to the shooks run trail safely.
Where is the Carnival?
You will ride your bikes as a group with a Kids on Bikes Ambassador to Mid-Shooks Run Park. The Carnival fun will be at Mid-Shooks Run Park for the rest of the afternoon.
Can we just come to the Carnival and not one of the rides?
Yes but just be aware that parking might be scarce. You may use street parking on Franklin, Willamette, and El Paso. You can also come without bikes if you choose.
