Girls Level 1/2 Mountain Bike Camp
We have two divisions of girls mountain biking camps. This camp is for girls with beginner mountain biking skills, similar to Level 1 and 2 mountain biking. Our girls camps are led by strong and talented women role models who teach mountain biking skills, develop character, and otherwise develop skills that empower girls to embrace a life of bike riding and becoming ambassadors of the sport.
Level 1
After a kid has become confident riding a bicycle on two wheels, with the ability to steer and brake the bike appropriately, we move into more skill development of bicycle handling, overall confidence, and building up young mountain biking ambassadors. We teach appropriate trail and group riding etiquette and build on the child’s ability to brake, steer, and handle the bicycle on gravel both uphill and downhill.
Level 2
This level becomes the difference between a ‘beginner’ and an ‘intermediate’ mountain biker. Though age is not the determining factor, kids are usually at least 7 years old and have been riding a bicycle confidently for a couple years. With level 2 comes more substantial mountain biking with drills specific to handling a bicycle on singletrack. Capacity for riding grows to longer consecutive riding stretches, maintaining energy and enthusiasm for riding, and the ability to show multiple riding skills naturally.
Deciding between Explorers and Level 1/2 is one of more common questions for kids that are 6-7 years old. The main difference between the camps is the length of the day and amount of mileage that will be covered throughout the week. Explorers might cover ~3-5 miles in a given camp day, while Level 1/2 will be closer to 6-8.
