The Great Bicycle Carnival

Join us for a high flying day of bicycling stunts, riveting races, carnival games and more that will astonish and amaze kids and adults alike!

– Mountain bike madness challenge for adults and high schoolers with a running obstacle course

– Fun kids bike challenges for each age group from striders through 13 year olds

– Full-scale, 30+ piece running obstacle course (like a Spartan Race) from Train OC

– Craft beer garden

– Local live music and food

– Kids’ bunny hop and adult pixie bike competition

ADULT MOUNTAIN BIKE MADNESS CHALLENGE (SOLO):

This 2-hour, adult bike challenge is on a 2.6-mile circuit. It begins with a Le Mans start (on foot running) through the TRAIN OC obstacle course before hopping on your bike to complete the race.

Perfect for: 18 years old+ who like a unique, fun challenge.

Pre-registration: Required.  Register here.

– Free pint of beer to the first 100 to register (21 and older, of course)!
– Registration includes entrance to the all-day carnival

ADULT MOUNTAIN BIKE MADNESS CHALLENGE (DUO):

This 2-hour, adult bike challenge for teams of two is on a 2.6-mile circuit. It begins with a Le Mans start (on foot running) through the TRAIN OC obstacle course before hopping on your bike to complete the race.

Perfect for: 18 years old+ who like a unique, fun team challenge.

Pre-registration: Required.  Register as a team here.

Transitions between riders:
– Transitions can only happen in the designated transition area.
– One teammate must do both the obstacle course Le Mans start and the first lap.
– You can transition as many times after each lap as you want in the designated area.

Not sure you want to go it alone?  Create a team with a friend, sibling or parent!  This 1-hour, bike challenge for teams of two is on a 2.6-mile circuit. It begins with a Le Mans start (on foot running) through the TRAIN OC obstacle course before hopping on your bike to complete the race.

Perfect for: 13 – 17 years old riders who like a unique, fun team challenge.
Note: Teams can consist of one adult and one teen rider, but nobody under age 13 can enter.

Pre-registration: Required.  Register as a team here.

– Teams must include at least one person age 13-17.

KOB Popsicle Ride

4-MILE POPSICLE FAMILY FUN RIDE WITH RETIRED PRO-CYCLIST TIMMY DUGGAN

This is a leisurely ride for all ages, skills and abilities, and will conclude with popsicles!

Pre-registration:  None – just bring your general carnival ticket to ride.
Buy your individual or family carnival tickets here and show up at noon ready to ride.

AFTERNOON EVENTS

Grab your bike, dress in your best costume, and join us for the most fun time you can have on two wheels. No pre-registration needed for any of these events — your carnival ticket is all you need to join. You can buy individual or family carnival tickets here.

Bunny Hop Competition (Adults + Kids)
Find out who is the best bike “bunny” and can hop the farthest.

Bike Limbo (Adults + Kids)
How low can you go? We’ll see who can limbo the lowest on wheels.

Pixie Race (Adults only)
This is our version of elephants on unicycles — adults racing each other on tiny bikes!
Sign up for this event at the Bicycle Amusement Park early to reserve your spot.
We’ll have limited pixie bikes available, so feel free to bring your favorite kid’s bike and ride.

Bicycle Amusement Park (Adults + Kids)
You’ll have a circus of a time in our Bicycle Amusement Park. BMX demos, games, prizes — lots to see and do. Come on by, and feel free to dress up in costume and get down with your bike!

STRIDER CUP ADVENTURE ZONE

An adventure for the littlest bikers out there!  If you’ve got a toddler with a strider bike and want a pint-sized challenge, this is the ticket.

Perfect for: Toddlers or small kids with strider bikes who want a fun event just for them.
We may have some striders available, but plan on BYOB – bring your own bike.
Pre-Registration: None, but you do need to have a Carnival Ticket (buy here) and sign-up before 2pm on the list in the Bicycle Amusement Park.

For kids who want to challenge themselves while having fun!  These short bike challenges allow kids to complete as many laps as possible.  All challenges are broken down according to age.  Below is the schedule for the Bike Challenges for the day.  Just show up a few minutes early and get ready to ride!

KOB Kids Course

Perfect for: Kids who love to ride their bike and want to challenge themselves.
Pre-registration:  Simply purchase the Bicycle Carnival Pass and then show up at the time of your child’s event according to their age.  See the schedule below.  You can buy tickets here.  Included with your registration is full access to the all-day carnival, Popsicle Ride and play time on the Train OC obstacle course.

2:30 PM

SPRINT BIKE CHALLENGE ( 5 – 6 YEARS)

This short bike challenge allows kids to complete as many laps on the .25-mile course as possible in 15 minutes.

3:00 PM

SPRINT BIKE CHALLENGE ( 7 – 8 YEARS)

This short bike challenge allows kids to complete as many laps on the .25-mile course as possible in 20 minutes.

3:30 PM

SPRINT BIKE CHALLENGE ( 9 – 10 YEARS)

This short bike challenge allows kids to complete as many laps on the .5-mile course as possible in 25 minutes.

4:00 PM

SPRINT BIKE CHALLENGE ( 11 – 12 YEARS)

This short bike challenge allows kids to complete as many laps on the .5-mile course as possible in 30 minutes.

TRAIN OC CHALLENGE COMPETITION

Course open 11am – 5pm | Final competition 4pm

Do you have what it takes to compete with the best?  TRAIN OC is an on-foot, sprint obstacle course that consists of 30+ obstacles that is sure to challenge even the fittest among us. This course is similar to what you would see at a Spartan Race or Tough Mudder minus the mud and water.

Perfect for: Adults + kids who want to challenge themselves, or compete against other attendees on foot.
Pre-registration: Required if you want to compete. You can register here.

Not competing, but want to try it out? Your general carnival admission ticket includes the ability to “play” on the course whenever it’s open during the day.

More info for competitors:
– The first 200 challenge participants will receive a TRAIN OC participation medal and age group winners will receive a TRAIN OC T-Shirt.
– You can log your own personal time at any point during the day when the course is open. The top 6 competitors in each age division will compete in a finalist round at 4pm.
– Included in your registration for the Train OC course is entrance to the general carnival events.

The Great Bicycle Carnival attracts people from around the region, which will eventually grow into three days of racing, riding and general bike-centric fun.  Located in beautiful Colorado Springs, the trail system boasts some of the best singletrack in all of Colorado.  With regional parks and trails that offer a variety of terrain, there is nothing quite like the scenery and diversity of mountain biking in Colorado Springs.

Sound like fun and want to help? SIGN UP HERE! Limited t-shirts will be provided so sign up early!  We will provide lunch and one Carnival entry ($10 entry) for all volunteers.

We will offer refunds up to 15 days prior to the event.

Just purchase a Bicycle Carnival Pass and show up at the Bike Challenge course based on the timing of the kids events – they are broken down by ages.  The Carnival Pass gets you into the Carnival zone, play time on the Train OC course, the Popsicle Ride and the Bike Challenge.

If you have a competitive spirit and think you have the speed and agility to beat everyone else, then sign up for the Challenge.  That will post your results against everyone else. Plus you get a medal for competing and a t-shirt if you win your age division.

Then sign up for the Carnival ticket.  That will give you access to the Train OC course (only play time), plus entry into the carnival zone, the Bike Challenges and the Family Popsicle Ride.

Then come for free and enjoy watching all the fun.  If you change your mind, we will have registration all day long for any part of it.

Then bring your bike of choice (or limited pixie bikes will be available on site) and have at it!  We just ask that you purchase a carnival ticket to participate and then show up at the time of the event.
