Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox – clinic and family activities
The Pikes Peak APEX is a one of the largest and most competitive cycling races in our region. The four-day pro and amateur stage race takes place from September 23rd through the 26th. Check out their website for more information!
Saturday’s stage will include an outdoor expo at America the Beautiful Park and we will host a most-ages/abilities mountain bike clinic during the race. This could be a great opportunity for your kids to stay active if you are participating/volunteering in the race, or just a lengthier clinic as part of our larger Fall program schedule. For those travelling to town for the race, we may be able to provide a loaner bike/helmet if your kids don’t have their own while you’re in town. While signing up, you can find this option under both the “Beginner/Intermediate” and “Intermediate/Advanced Mountain Biking” on the registration page.
Shortly after the race begins, we will head the same direction to Bear Creek Park via urban bike paths and then spend the day working on mountain bike skills and riding the trails. We expect to break into at least two groups, one more beginner oriented (but still mountain biking), and one more intermediate to advanced (able to ride blue/black rated trails).
Parent volunteers are always welcome as well, and we can provide a free entry (for the clinic, not the race), if you are able to help during the ride!
